Our joy-full thanks to the Janaka Foundation for their recent grant, allowing us to move into our next phase of development here at Ananda House. Please see their wonderful write up about this project on the Janaka website: http://janakafoundation.org/category/ananda-house/, as well as our Capitol Campaign letter under our “Support Us” tab, for more details of how you too, can help.
The idea for Ananda House came to Hanuman in a dream he had many years ago–of a joyful, multigenerational home, where each family member is valued and recognized for their unique contribution.
This dream, combined with Swami Kriyananda’s “12 Precepts of Evening Hospice”, give us our direction and ideals. We use these precepts as guides for learning how to view life as a tool for living more consciously. Our lives are dedicated to helping others find God through meditation, and service to God through our fellow human beings. Ideals of high thinking and simple living are used to provide for the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of each individual. We follow these principles as a way of helping others “live consciously, to die consciously.”
Ananda House has taken shape over the past months as we have found and readied the house to open, were joined by our wonderful crew of caregivers, and opened our doors to our first five family members.
We are a part of a larger movement of truthseekers, Ananda Church of Self Realization, and are guided by the teachings of our guru, Paramhansa Yogananda, and our founder, Swami Kriyananda, but our doors are open to truth seekers of any faith, who wish to live in this environment of support.
Our goal is to create and maintain an environment that supports everyone in their quest of realizing their highest potential. In service to others, our ideal is to serve God equally in all. In meditation, our ideal is to set aside the ego and to allow the divine consciousness to penetrate into every corner of our beings.
Our larger dream is that someday there will be “Ananda Houses” in many locations around the globe. As we create the template here, we also prepare ourselves to train others to share this wonderfully fulfilling lifestyle of viewing both life and death as avenues for spiritual growth.
