Ananda House at Laurelwood is currently hiring for a live-in, full-time caregiver at our 5-resident adult care home, in the Forest Grove, Oregon area

Ananda House is looking for staff who are meditators (or want to learn to make meditation a regular part of their lives), who want to help hold the vibration of a peaceful, meditative, vegetarian lifestyle for our residents, who see caregiving for elders as a vocation. We strive to support our elder’s spiritual, as well as physical/mental/emotional lives. Our staff and residents are a close-knit, supportive family. 

Job Description Includes:

Assisting our residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s): dressing, eating, walking, toileting, showering, cooking meals, housekeeping, leading activities, and companionship.

You must be physically fit, able to lift 30 pounds, mentally and emotionally mature, serviceful, and willing to live in a supportive setting. No experience is necessary: we will train you (but attention to detail is very important).

Nuts and Bolts: 

Following an interview, and acceptance for the position you:

  1. Must pass a federal background check, including fingerprinting if you have lived out of state in past 5 years, before starting work.
  2. Must take a class in CPR and First Aid, through American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  3. Must complete and show competence in DHS’s Workbook and Training Guide: Adult Foster Home Caregiver Preparatory Training (online training).


Room and board plus $1000/ month. Food and all utilities, including internet and Netflix are part of room and board. (Personal products and specialty foods are your responsibility.) Raises are based on merit. One week paid vacation after one year, additional week of seclusion / spiritual retreat time after second year of employment.

Additional Notes:

This is a non-smoking household, no recreational drugs or alcohol allowed on the premises.

Driving is part of the job, so you must have a valid drivers license.

You will need to have your own transportation, as we are not near a bus line.

You must carry some sort of health insurance. We are exempt from Worker’s Comp.
